Der Dokumentarfilm folgt Noam Tibon, IDF-General im Ruhestand, der am 7. Oktober 2023 auf eigene Faust in den Kibbuz Nahal Oz fährt, um seine Tochter und ihre Familie zu retten. Mehr als ein Viertel der Kibbuz-Bewohner wurden getötet oder von der Hamas verschleppt.
Der Film sorgte für eine Kontroverse, nachdem das Toronto International Film Festival die Premiere absagte – wegen “Sicherheitsbedenken” und den “fehlenden Bildrechten” an den Hamas-Bodycam-Aufnahmen. Nach großem internationalen Druck konnte die Premiere stattfinden, der Film gewann beim Festival in Toronto den Publikumspreis.
The documentary follows retired IDF general Noam Tibon, who on October 7, 2023 sets out on his own for Kibbutz Nahal Oz to rescue his daughter and her family. More than a quarter of the kibbutz’s residents were killed or abducted by Hamas.
The film sparked controversy when the Toronto International Film Festival canceled its premiere, citing “security concerns” and “missing copyrights” of the Hamas bodycam footage. After significant international pressure, the premiere ultimately went ahead—and the film went on to win the festival’s Audience Award.
